How long have you worked at Lisk and what is your current role?
I have worked at Lisk for just over 16 years and my current role is the Military/Aerospace Engineering Manager.
What has your experience been as a member of the Lisk team?
My experience at Lisk has certainly passed all my original expectations. I first started working as a co-op in the Manufacturing Engineering department which later turned into a full time position following college graduation. Fast forward 3 years, and while I appreciated the knowledge I gained in Manufacturing Engineering, I wanted to expand my learning and be exposed to other aspects of the business. That’s when a position opened up in Military/Aerospace product engineering, and I have been there ever since. Through those transitions, and because Lisk is so vertically integrated, I have worked closely with many of the functions around the company. Those experiences and ability to change positions within Lisk have really helped me grow in all facets of my personal and professional career.
Who have been some of your biggest inspirations within the company?
Early on in my career I would say Tim Newland and Dan Gersbach. Their attention to detail and straightforward approach to every situation quickly taught me the value of being short and to the point. I still remember Tim telling me “if you don’t know, just tell me you don’t know and then we can discuss everything else”. I would also add Lee Coryell for his work ethic and overall dedication to Lisk.
What is your favorite memory at Lisk?
Honestly after working at Lisk for over 16 years I have so many great memories that it wouldn’t be fair to just list one. What I will say is that most of those moments involve some type of group collaboration from the people at Lisk. That ranges from working together to push a challenging project across the finish line all the way to collectively coming up with good pranks to pull on people!
How have you grown professionally while on the Lisk team?
When I started full time at Lisk I was just out of college and only had a limited understanding of what being an engineer in a professional work environment was all about. My colleagues throughout the years have taught me what that means and Lisk has provided me the opportunity to advance in my career in the way I’ve desired. The transition from various engineering positions to management has taught me that you never stop learning and growing.
What do you enjoy most about working at Lisk?
It’s definitely the people and the culture. When you work with a team that cares about each other and the work that needs to be done, it makes it a much more enjoyable place to work.
