On November 30, 2023, G.W. Lisk Company received correspondence from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) approving a revised “Remedial Investigation Report” (RIR) that was submitted in August 2023. The RIR describes our proposed approach to meeting the requirements of the Brownfield Cleanup Program. In its November 30, 2023 approval letter, the DEC stated, “In accordance with Title 6 of the New York Codes, Rules, and Regulations (6-NYCRR) part 375-1.6, the Departments have determined that the revised RIR substantially addresses the requirements of the Brownfield Cleanup Agreement, and the report is hereby approved”. G.W. Lisk Company is working closely with the NYS DEC, NYS DOH and an environmental engineering firm to complete the site cleanup process, and the DEC’s approval of the RIR is just the latest milestone that we have achieved in our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship. G.W. Lisk has worked closely with the DEC to manage the site remediation with no disturbances to G.W. Lisk’s ongoing operations. We anticipate that in the future, there will be no production impacts due to our ongoing remediation work.
The primary pollutant that we are addressing in the cleanup work is Trichloroethylene, a.k.a. TCE. TCE was a very commonly used industrial degreasing solvent that was discontinued by G.W. Lisk in the early 2000s as a result of new research and USEPA regulations. In 2009, G.W. Lisk completely converted to a new USEPA regulated solvent.
As an ISO14001: 2015 certified company, G.W. Lisk continues to invest in and deploy world class technologies to enhance our environmental sustainability and assure our employees’ health and safety.
